BookDrop

Library Programs

A responsible, free solution for deaccessioned and withdrawn materials.

Libraries are constantly refreshing their collections — weeding outdated titles, withdrawing damaged copies, and making room for new acquisitions. The result is often carts, boxes, and sometimes entire rooms full of deaccessioned books that need to go somewhere. BookDrop makes sure that somewhere isn't a dumpster.

How It Works

We've designed the process to be as easy as possible for library staff.

  • 1Contact us when you're ready. Whether it's a single weeding project or an ongoing deaccession schedule, let us know and we'll set up a plan.
  • 2We come to you — for free. Our team picks up all materials at your library. No charge, no minimum, no sorting required on your end.
  • 3Books get a second life. Every book is evaluated. Resalable titles reach new readers through our network. The rest is recycled responsibly.

Why Libraries Choose BookDrop

Completely free

No fees for pickup, processing, or disposal. We cover everything.

We take everything

All deaccessioned materials — no cherry-picking, no leaving the hard stuff behind.

Flexible scheduling

We work around your hours and your timeline. One-time pickups or ongoing partnerships.

Responsible handling

Your patrons' donations and your collection's history are treated with care — redistributed, not dumped.

Any Size, Any Frequency

Whether you have a few carts from a routine weeding or an entire storage room from a major collection overhaul, we can handle it. Many of our library partners schedule regular pickups — quarterly, monthly, or as needed. We fit your workflow, not the other way around.
