About BookDrop
We started with a simple idea: books are too valuable to throw away.

How It Started
What started as a textbook purchasing company — buying books from college students on campus — quickly grew into one of North America's largest book redistribution operations. Along the way, we saw the same problem everywhere: perfectly good books being thrown into dumpsters at thrift stores, libraries, and homes. Not because nobody wanted them, but because there was no easy way to get them to the people who did. We set out to fix that — and today, BookDrop processes millions of books every month through a network of home pickups, donation bins, and partnerships across the country.
Our Mission
We collect, sort, and redistribute books to keep them out of landfills and in circulation. Through partnerships with libraries, thrift stores, community organizations, and everyday readers, we've built a network that gives every book the best chance at a second life.
What We Do
Our team picks up books from homes, empties donation bins, and collects surplus inventory from partner organizations. Every book is evaluated — resalable books find new readers through online marketplaces and wholesale channels, while the rest are recycled responsibly.

Our Impact
Since our founding, we've redistributed millions of books and diverted hundreds of thousands of pounds of material from landfills. We work with over 500 partner locations and continue to grow our network every month.
